Beyond Earth Mod of the Week: XCOM Foundation
Welcome to Mod of the Week, where we highlight Civilization: Beyond Earth mods created by the community. This week: the XCOM Foundation.
Weve seen a lot of custom sponsors in Beyond Earth weve certainly shared some of our favorites here on the blog but it brings us great pleasure to highlight this latest custom sponsor, which brings XCOM into the Beyond Earth experience.
The XCOM Foundation, a custom sponsor mod created by Steam user Alterd-Rushnano, arrives in Beyond Earth with a series of perks, including -25% Food in growing cities when healthy, as well as the ability kill certain units and assimilate their technology if XCOM has yet to research that tech. XCOMs Special Forces colonist allows units to receive promotions 50% faster, but also increases the construction speed of unique Affinity units like the ANGEL and Battlesuit by 25%. Unique spacecraft and cargo options also provide XCOM a larger starting area to make planetfall and a free Ranger at the outset of the game, respectively.
Unfortunately, it appears that Central Officer Bradford, as well as his colleagues from XCOM: Enemy Unknown and XCOM: Enemy Within, failed to make the trip from Earth. In this mod, XCOMs leader is Lisa J. Carter. You can download this custom sponsor on Steam Workshop here.
